Internet Explorer 7.0 |
| Microsoft release new browser version |
What does this mean for your website?
Since January 2007 approximately 20% of all web users are already using IE 7. 0. Users with automatic update will not notice until it’s already on their machine, but they may notice differences while browsing. Apart from great improvements like tabbed browsing, familiar sites may behave or look unexpectedly different. If this is the case when viewing your website, it does not mean you suddenly have errors and bugs, but that it is necessary to perform an upgrad of your code to accommodate the new browser standard.
Ask WEB to run a test of your website
We recommend all our customers a thorough test of design and functionalities of their website in the new browser IE 7.0.
IE 7.0 have added a range of new user features and interpret the web standards better than previous releases of the browser. However, certain standards are now interpreted differently and this creates new challenges in getting existing websites to display optimally in the new browser.
The new browser may cause design and lay out to slide and change position when compared to display in previous browser versions. This does not mean there is an error in the code of your website only that the new browser version interprets the code differently. Often a few relatively simple adjustments will be required to correct this issue. In some cases more invasive measures are required depending on the complexity of your web solution.
Contact WEB to order a test of your website and learn how we can propose solutions to this new IE 7.0 issue.
Test your website on your own
You can also choose to test your website yourself. To test if your website works as it should in the new IE 7.0, go to www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx and install the new browser.
Once it is on your machine, you should test all functionalities one by one. You should also test the design of your web site on each and every page to ensure nothing has changed or that you can live with any changes in display. |
